Marilyn M Maler, DVM,
Diplomate ACVSMR

Specializing in sports medicine and rehabilitation, Dr. Maler utilizes acupuncture, chiropractic and osteopathy to diagnose and treat lameness and performance problems. This integration of modern veterinary medicine diagnostics and therapeutics with alternative modalities allows for an invaluable “whole patient” approach to veterinary medicine.

After graduation from the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine with Honors in 1999, Dr. Maler worked for 5 years as a general mixed practice veterinarian in South Florida. During that period she began her education in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine at the Chi Institute. She is a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist, Certified Veterinary Herbologist, Certified Veterinary Tui-na Practitioner and Certified Veterinary Food Therapist. In 2005 she began teaching at the Chi Institute during the basic acupuncture course, and currently instructs advanced acupuncture modules and Tui-na courses as well.

She started her Veterinary Chiropractic education in 2004, completing basic chiropractic courses at both Options for Animals and Healing Oasis Wellness Center, and continuing her studies with many advanced chiropractic courses.  She is certified in Veterinary Chiropractic by both the International Veterinary Chiropractic Association and American Veterinary Chiropractic Association. She has since become a certifying examiner for the IVCA, and is currently the Chair of the North American Committee.  She is also an instructor at Options for Animals.

Along the way, as she continued to build her skills in integrated medicine, she started her own veterinary practice with a focus on chiropractic and acupuncture. Equine back pain, TMJ dysfunction and hoof balance are areas of special interest to her.

She has most recently added the distinction of earning board certification by the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation.
